New Off Road Triathlon/Duathlon Coming this Summer to Muskegon County

Muskegon, MI- Endurance Sports partnered with Muskegon Y.M.C.A. and Camp Pendalouan will be hosting an Off Road Triathlon/Duathlon located at Camp Pendalouan. August 27th at 9:00am swimmers will start swimming a half-mile loop in Blue Lake with the duathletes starting a 5K run. Both triathletes and duathletes will then proceed to the staging area to start the mountain bike portion. Ending with both triathletes and duathletes completing a 5K-trail run.

Muskegon Family Y.M.C.A. Off Road Triathlon/Duathlon is open to the first 200 applicants. The swim will be a mass start from the beach of Camp Pendalouan, swimmers will swim their way around buoys located in the clean waters of Blue Lake. Athletes will make a short run from the beach to the staging area where they will pick up their bikes and start a 12 plus mile loop on Owasippe’s mountain bike trail. Athletes will complete the course with a 5K-trail run. “To me the best part of this event will be the mountain bike section. Anyone who has biked at Owasippe knows this trail is challenging to even the most accomplished rider.” Says Matt Vander Sys owner of Endurance Sports. After the event athletes will be able to relax and enjoy a wide variety of food and drinks, along with a generous award ceremony.

Don Correll, Bruce Spoelman, and Matt Vander Sys are the organizers of the Muskegon Family Y.M.C.A. Off Road Triathlon/Duathlon. Breakaway Bicycles has also helped by providing bike stands and other important resources. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Muskegon Family Y.M.C.A. and the continual existence of Camp Pendalouan.

The Muskegon Family Y.M.C.A. Off Road Triathon/Duathlon has all the feel of the popular Xterra Triathlons. Pamphlet will be available through West Michigan Y.M.C.A.’s, Endurance Sports, and Breakaway Bicycles.
